What wireless connectivity will the UK need over the next decade?

DCMS is developing a Wireless Infrastructure Strategy to set a policy framework for the development and deployment of wireless networks to 2030, with the intention to publish the strategy in 2022.

DCMS have today published a Call for Evidence document to develop a better understanding of the UK’s future wireless connectivity needs, to what extent these needs will be met over the next decade and how the government can best support investment, competition, innovation and adoption of wireless infrastructure, including 6G and future networks, through the regulatory and policy framework.

Written responses are being called for together with supporting evidence and data.

This work complements Ofcom’s strategic review of the mobile market.

Key points:

  • Call for Evidence will run for six weeks, closing on 25 November 2021
  • All responses to be emailed to wirelessinfrastructurestrategy@dcms.gov.uk.
  • There are 8 separate questions.
  • DCMS encourage submissions of over 6 pages to be accompanied by an executive summary.
