Celebrating the achievements and outcomes of the UK's 5G landscape

We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the UK’s 5G Showcase Awards, sponsored by Ericsson. With over 100 entries, our expert judging panel—Peter Whale, Robert Driver, Simon Fletcher, Jess Ellis, Katherine Ainley and Paul Beastall—was faced with an almost impossible decision. But the breadth and depth of talent only highlight the UK’s strong 5G ecosystem of innovation, paving the way for a very exciting future.

Robert Driver, Head of UK5G, said: “With over 130 nominations, the judging process for these awards was certainly not an easy task; a fantastic reflection of the UK’s 5G capabilities and ecosystem.  I would like to offer my thanks to all those individuals who took the trouble to nominate, and to the great nominees they put forward. I’d also like to congratulate the 15 projects, organisations and individuals who made the shortlist.  I very much look forward to the Awards dinner at the Showcase event where the 5 winners will be announced and would also like to thank our sponsor, Ericsson”.

Jess Ellis, Head of Programme Development, 5GTT, added: “The 5G Testbed & Trials programme was all about putting the UK at the forefront of global 5G innovation and deployment.  From judging these awards it’s clear to see that we have not only fantastic projects but committed, enthusiastic and innovative organisations and individuals who are really pushing the limits of what we do with 5G and how we make it happen.  Congratulations to all those on the shortlist.”
