We’ve had a busy couple of months since our last update. Our members have been busy, travelling the world and talking about 5G.
On 29 November we had our first Creative Industries Working Group event. The theme was immersive technologies, and how 5G can unlock their potential. Curated by Alexandra Hussenot from Immersionn and hosted by the BBC in Media City Salford, the event kicked off with an illustrious panel including Rupert Breheny from Google, Mark Cornell from Vodafone, Mauricio Aracena – President of Virtual Reality Industry Forum and Media Standardization Manager from Ericsson, David Biggs – Head of Technology Labs at BT and Ed King – Lead Architect in the BBC’s Technology Strategy and Architecture Connectivity group.
Delegates came from across the UK, including Brighton, Glasgow, Liverpool and London. In round table discussions and presentations, we worked together to discuss and plan how to support the development of this sector in a 5G world around collaboration, infrastructure, skills, testbeds and applications
We are looking at more events in 2020 around sport, music, arts and heritage, advertising and the media as part on ongoing discussions with DCMS about support for this sector to innovate and collaborate. Watch this space for updates!
