Simon takes responsibility for overall technical and innovation strategy at Real Wireless. In the UK5G Advisory Board he leads the International Engagement Working Group, and has recently signed an MoU with South Korea on behalf of UK5G.
Simon has spent the past 20 years working in telecoms infrastructure systems and product development. In NEC Corporation he played a key role in the formation of Joint Ventures for the development of 3G and 4G products and establishing Core Teams targeting new product development. He represented NEC in industry eco-system forums during early commercial product launches and directed projects addressing future cities, the application of 5G and IoT in industry verticals. Real Wireless takes part in H2020 R&I projects – in one such project so was the Innovation Manager for the 5G-NORMA consortium which pioneered slicing and cloud architectures. He led a UK strategic study on Future Communications infrastructure use cases and costs, and incubates new Real Wireless service offerings through Real Wireless project in the UK, Europe and beyond. Projects typically focussed on network economics and dimensioning, commercial case analysis grounded in techno-economic analysis, utilising in-house software tools and consulting expertise.
