Join the UKTIN Delivery Team

The UK Telecoms Innovation Network - or UKTIN - launched on 1 October 2022.  Funded by DCMS, it is designed to act as a convener of industry and academic R&D communities, supporting the definition of a UK telecoms R&D strategy, clearer access to funding and the development of new mobile and broadband technology

It provides a single point of coordination across the UK telecoms ecosystem, ensuring knowledge is effectively and efficiently shared across the telecoms industry. It covers all aspects of the telecoms sector, from wireless infrastructure (chip to RAN) to satellite, system integration, fibre, network security, network management (eg OSS/BSS), AI, and data cloud infrastructure.

Job Title - Senior 5G Technologist - EcoSystem Engagement

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior 5G Technologist - Ecosystem Engagement to join the Digital Catapult on a 2-year fixed term contract to work in the UKTIN programme (The UK Telecoms Innovation Network), working with established teams of experts in technical aspects of telecoms, policy research and innovation practice. As part of this role the candidate will provide technical secretariat/editorial support to the UKTIN R&D&I SIGs (Special Interest Groups) and Strategic Group activities. In this role you will proactively coordinate the technical work programme of the groups, working very closely with the SIG Chairs, and as part of a very strong R&D-roadmap focused technical team within UKTIN.

You will be ultimately accountable for the specific SIGs that they coordinate, in specific technology areas (e.g. network AI, network management, wireless networks, non-terrestrial networks, etc.) to ensure direction is followed, outcomes are achieved, and an excellent service is delivered to the participants, in a highly collaborative delivery process. Closing date for Applications: 29th March 2023. Anticipated Start date: ASAP.

Job Title - User Experience Designer

The Opportunity

UKTIN (UK Telecoms Innovation Network) funded by the Department of Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT), is a new body dedicated to supporting innovative new companies and the wider telecoms ecosystem to access and navigate R&D funding and facilities and create opportunities to collaborate on developing new technologies and driving the development of open networks.

In this role you will work collaboratively, with three external partners, to properly understand user needs and test how content and products work for users, drawing on a range of qualitative and quantitative methods. One of the main focuses of this role is the Development of Personas (for example, New Suppliers, MNO (Mobile Network Operators), Direct Foreign Investors etc). You will be responsible in the creation of the Design of User Journeys to improve yje user friendliness, user experience and efficiency of the Research & Development ecosystem.  Your expertise in combining User Experience thinking with strong design execution is fundamental in the provision of accessible, intuitive products and services.
