There have been recent moves on both sides of the Channel to bolster the security of public telecoms networks, which are undergoing a period of rapid technological change. While 5G offers a wide range of benefits to consumers and enterprise, its advancements in virtualisation, software and cloud infrastructure are set to add a new layer of complexity to supply chains, service provision and system integration.

To ensure telecoms networks and infrastructure are secure and resilient, the UK Government has introduced new legislation to bolster telecoms network infrastructure security via the Telecoms Security Bill. The European Commission has, since 2019, undertaken several initiatives to strengthen cyber security, including the on-going work on NIS2 Directive and EU Toolbox for 5G.

As the UK and EU continue to develop telecoms security measures and practices, we would like to invite you to join a virtual panel discussion organised jointly by European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association and techUK to learn more about the common threads and divergences of these two approaches, and their impact on the global telecoms market and supply chain.

Our panel will be made up of the following specialists:

  • Louise Sheridan, Head of Taskforce & Governance, DCMS
  • Peter Stuckmann, Head of Unit, Future Connectivity, DG CONNECT, European Commission
  • Richard Wainer, Policy and Public Affairs Director – Networks, BT Group
  • Sophie James, Programme Manager – Communications Infrastructure & Services, techUK (moderator)
  • Lise Fuhr, ETNO’s Director General, will be delivering the opening remarks.

Register by 12 May. Your personal data will be processed by the organisers for the purpose of allowing your participation into the event. You can access our Privacy Policies here: ETNOtechUK.
