Worcestershire County Council is considering an application (either as lead partner or partner) into the RCC 5G funding opportunity.  Initial conversations have involved some neighbouring areas e.g. West Mercia area, although no firm commitments have been made. There are several ideas for deployment of technologies in rural areas and Usecase ideas including health/social care and farming applications.

Having been part of the Phase 1 Testbed and Trials Project, focussing on Industry 4.0 and Security by Design to help push productivity we have experience of deploying a 5GNR network and supporting 5G Usecases. The Worcestershire consortium for Phase 1 included, MNOs, System Integrators, Vendors, Industrial partners, local authority/LEP and Education providers.

Worcestershire is interested to discuss potential opportunities with:

- Companies interested in developing / deploying Usecases on a rural 5GNR network.
- MNOs / Vendors.
- Other areas either to join a Worcestershire bid to widen the geography (contiguous or non-contiguous), alternatively Worcestershire and some other partners may be interested to join another bid.
- Worcestershire 5G is in the process of establishing a commercial offering, if project areas are considering a bid, we would welcome interest from consortia looking for 'services' and are happy to discuss options.

Those interested can discuss more with Ste Ashton sashton@worcestershire.gov.uk

Hello Worcestershire! Interested to know if you have explored the option of using / adopting one of the many low-powered wireless access (LPWA) technologies out there today such as LoRa. Even though there are some operators out there with nationwide LPWA concessions, there may be the opportunitiy for limited geopgraphical / private networks.

An LPWAN provider/solution has been included in early conversations. Unsure if this will be progressed as part of final bid. Happy to have further conversations recognising late stage in process.
