INVITING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – UK’S FIRST 5G SHOPPING CENTRE

Surrey Heath Borough Council is looking for a committed investor to join a consortium of innovative retail, technology and academic partners to deliver 5G to The Square, Shopping Centre in Camberley, creating the UK’s first 5G enabled shopping centre.

This ground-breaking, open data shopping centre will become the blueprint for modelling how the bricks and mortar retail sector operates in the future.

Providing a unique opportunity to work with key retailers in understanding pain points and what technologies and innovations can be enabled through the use of technology on a neutral host 5G network.

This project will have significant marketing on a national and international basis to ensure that it is seen as a flagship project for the country and work continues with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to make this a turn-key opportunity for overseas retail and technology businesses.

Ofcom have already identified the testbed as a potential stand out UK project and assured spectrum access.

Through this project, the Consortium will also create high quality flexible working space, within the shopping centre footprint with direct 5G core access. This space will house incubation space for all sizes of businesses to use their technologies in a live shopping centre environment.

Significant development into CCTV Networks, IoT and other significant enablers of innovation will also be prioritised.

For more information and to be considered for this opportunity, please complete the form on the following link and send to Sam Marshall, Project Lead, sam.marshall@surreyheath.gov.uk

  • We would like to see if our deployable 5G private network would be of interest?

  • I'd like to register our (WHP Telecoms) interest in collaborating on this initiative. WHP is one of UK's largest systems integrators of mobile / wireless communications inffrastructure and networks - with field offices across the country including near Heathrow. We also work with a number of investors with an interest in infrastructure projects. I'd very much appreciate an opportunity to explore scope to collaborate. My email address is: R.Sivalingam@whptelecoms.com
